TUESDAY's court proceedings in the TODD SCHNITT vs. BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE case involved testimony from a former producer for both hosts, KIMBERLY COLLELO (called "JABBERJAW" on the air), who had alleged on BUBBA's show that SCHNITT, also known as MJ KELLI when he hosted mornings at CLEAR CHANNEL Top 40 WFLZ/TAMPA, had taken "plugola" and fixed ratings books.
The TAMPA TRIBUNE reports that COLLELO had said on the air in 2008 that she had "no doubt" that SCHNITT had received items from sponsors in exchange for on-air plugs, but FOX O&O WTVT (FOX 13)/TAMPA reports that COLLELO under cross-examination admitted that she did not have actual knowledge of CLEAR CHANNEL's contracts, including for one of her examples, a computer from COMP USA. She conceded that she did not actually have direct knowledge of tampering with ratings as well.
After today's testimony, BUBBA's attorneys rested their defense and moved to have the remaining charges thrown out, a standard procedural move. Closing arguments in the trial are scheduled for TOMORROW (1/30).
