PITTSBURGH PENGUINS radio voice PAUL STEIGERWALD will move to the TV side of the team's game coverage as he replaces the team's longtime TV announcer MIKE LANGE on FSN PITTSBURGH for next season. LANGE has been offered STEIGERWALD's radio slot but has not announced whether he will accept it.
The move has created controversy among PENGUINS fans due to the popularity of LANGE and his association with the team's glory years; he was the team's radio voice in 1974-75 and 1976-77 through 1979, then simulcast on radio and TV (with STEIGERWALD as color analyst) before becoming TV-exclusive later.
PENGUINS hockey airs on CLEAR CHANNEL Oldies WWWS (3WS)/PITTSBURGH with some games simulcast on sister Sports WBGG-A (FOX SPORTS RADIO 970).
