The nationally-distributed public radio newscast "INDEPENDENT NATIVE NEWS" has ceased production. The ANCHORAGE DAILY NEWS reports that the five-minute report, produced at KUAC/FAIRBANKS, shut down FRIDAY due to a lack of adequate funding. The show was hosted by BONNIE-SUE HITCHCOCK and focused on Native Americans, ALASKA Natives, and CANADIAN First Nation tribes. HITCHCOCK remains at KUAC and will continue to file reports locally for the station and the ALASKA PUBLIC RADIO NETWORK.
