Longtime Kansas City Broadcaster Walt Bodine Dies

Condolences to family and friends of longtime former KANSAS CITY talk show host, reporter, and commentator WALT BODINE, who died SUNDAY (3/24) at 92, reports the KANSAS CITY STAR.
BODINE started his career in 1940 at KDRO-A/SEDALIA, MO, then worked at KVAK-A/ATCHISON, KS before returning to his hometown of KANSAS CITY at KCKN-A in 1947, serving in the MARITIME SERVICE and U.S. NAVAL RESERVE before moving to WDAF-A, serving as staff announcer, reporter, and News Director at the station and sister WDAF-TV through 1965. He hosted shows on WHB-A from 1965 through 1974, then on KMBZ-A before joining UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI-KANSAS CITY noncommercial KCUR/KANSAS CITY in 1983, where he hosted until last year.
He also offered commentaries on ABC affiliate KMBC-TV and served as News Director for short-lived independent KCIT-TV in the late 1960s and host of "BODINE'S BEAT" on KSHB-TV, and was a professor of communication studies at UMKC.
