NABEF Announces Winners Of 2013 Service To America Awards

The NAB EDUCATION FOUNDATION has announced its 2013 Service to AMERICA Award winners, to be honored at the Celebration of Service to AMERICA Awards dinner on JUNE 3rd in WASHINGTON.
Radio winners include the Service to Children Award to CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WGY-A-F/ALBANY-SCHENECTADY-TROY for its "WCGY CHRISTMAS Wish Campaign"; the Service to Community Award to EMMIS Top 40/Rhythmic WQHT (HOT 97)/NEW YORK for the Hip-Hop Has Heart Foundation's work in the wake of Hurricane Sandy; and the President's Special Award to the NORTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS and radio and TV stations in the state for its Vietnam Veterans Homecoming Celebration.
"The important role that broadcasters play in the lives of people in their communities every day is undeniable," said NABEF Pres. MARCELLUS ALEXANDER. "Whether providing lifesaving information as first informers in an emergency or meeting basic needs through food and clothing drives, the winners this year exemplify the true meaning of community service."
