UK radio group GCAP MEDIA is looking to charge listeners to access premium content and podcasts. CEO RALPH BERNARD told THE INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY that the company is planning to offer subscription versions of its channels on a noncommercial basis via digital radio, and will also charge for online or cell phone delivery of podcasts. BERNARD also said that GCAP may also forge partnerships with other companies like the ITV television network to create new interactive services, saying that "clearly this is something which works in a multimedia world. If there is an interesting proposal, we do not have to remain sole operators."
The INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY is also reporting that SKY INTERACTIVE Director of Interactive Services WILL HARDING is joining GCAP this week as Group Strategy Director, focusing on NTR and new media.
