Condolences to family and friends of Jazz and Classical producer and musician CAL LAMPLEY, who died THURSDAY of complications from multiple sclerosis at 82.
LAMPLEY, who worked as an editor at COLUMBIA RECORDS and worked as an assistant producer and producer on records by artists like MILES DAVIS, DUKE ELLINGTON, MAHALIA JACKSON, LOUIS ARMSTRONG, and DAVE BRUBECK and later worked at WARNER BROS. and RCA, later hosted a weekly Jazz show on WCBM-A/BALTIMORE in the 1970s and reviewed Classical music for MARYLAND PUBLIC TELEVISION. He also taught at the PEABODY CONSERVATORY and MORGAN STATE UNIVERSITY.
