Condolences to family and friends of longtime LOS ANGELES television news anchor/reporter, actor, producer, and soccer broadcaster MARIO MACHADO, who died FRIDAY (5/3) in WEST HILLS, CA at 78.
MACHADO, best known as an anchor/reporter at the old KHJ-TV (now KCAL-TV) and CBS O&O KNXT (TV) (now KCBS-TV), as the national voice of FIFA WORLD CUP and NORTH AMERICAN SOCCER LEAGUE matches on television for several years, and for appearances in several movies, hosted shows on the old KRLA-A (now KDIS-A) and KABC-A in the '80s and '90s. He most recently produced the documentary "SHANGHAI EXODUS," and was active in the "OLD CHINA HANDS" project collecting oral histories of expatriates from CHINA (MACHADO himself was born in SHANGHAI and was of Portuguese-Chinese heritage).
