Tongues are wagging in MOTOWN as GREATER MEDIA Active Rock WRIF/DETROIT morning duo DREW & MIKE will "Bid Final Farewell to Listeners." No successor has been publicly named, but sources told CRAIN'S DETROIT BUSINESS that the former morning show of BELL MEDIA Alternative CIMX (89X)/WINDSOR-DETROIT -- DAVE HUNTER and CHUCK "THE FREAK" URGUHART -- could step in once their non-compete ends in MAY.
Meanwhile, WRIF says DREW LANE and MIKE CLARK will take calls from listeners and past on-air contributors from 6-11a on FRIDAY, MAY 17th during their last official broadcast on the station. The morning show, which includes longtime newsperson TRUDI DANIELS, is ending after entertaining listeners for the past 22 years.
"We would like to thank DREW, MIKE, TRUDI and the entire team for their many contributions to the station over the years in the MOTOR CITY," said Market Manager STEVE CHESSARE. "They are true professionals and we are very grateful to them."
Local TV station WDIV-TV also reports that DETROIT DAVE and CHUCK THE FREAK will be hired for wakeup duties.
