TRIBUNE CO. second quarter operating revenue fell 1% to $1.43 billion and net income plummeted 62% to $87.8 million (28 cents/share), with the Broadcasting/Entertainment division showing declining revenues, off 2% to $404 million, blamed on losses at two TV stations it is selling, WATL-TV/ATLANTA and WEWB-TV/ALBANY-SCHENECTADY-TROY. The company said that its radio/entertainment division, which includes the company's sole remaining radio property, Talk WGN-A/CHICAGO, also showed lower revenues due to declining revenues at WGN as well as reduced syndication revenue at TRIBUNE ENTERTAINMENT and fewer CHICAGO CUBS home games.
