COLUMBIA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY Contemporary Christian WRCM (NEW LIFE 91.9)/CHARLOTTE celebrates 20 years of service this FRIDAY (6-14). The college applied to the FCC in 1982, and after a 10 year negotiation was finally granted the license and signed on in 1993.
WRCM was the first Christian signal in the CHARLOTTE area, with a somewhat limited 10kw signal. Since that time, it has become "CHARLOTTE's Number One Family Friendly Station" and has grown to 30kw.
Dir. of Broadcasting/GM JOE PAULO, who was a part time employee at the beginning, says, "If you had told anyone associated with this radio station 20 years ago what the legacy would be, we would not have believed you. We had no idea what the impact would be 20 years down the road."
A celebration concert event, FAITH, FAMILY & FREEDOM, is planned for JUNE 22nd at ZMAX DRAGWAY (CHARLOTTE SPEEDWAY) in CONCORD. Artists scheduled to perform are BUILDING 429, MANDISA, SANCTUS REAL, PLUMB and FOR KING & COUNTRY.
WRCM has prepared a 20th Anniversary Video as a thank you to the many listeners who have helped make the vision a reality. ALL ACCESS congratulates our friends at WRCM on 20 years of a job well done!
