Michael Robertson Launches 'Uberstations'

The streaming music biz has a new entry -- from an old player. THE LOS ANGELES TIMES reports former MP3.COM CEO MICHAEL ROBERTSON has launched UBERSTATIONS, which "aggregates streams of traditional radio stations, which users can listen to from the site for free. UBERSTATIONS shows users what songs and talk shows are playing in whatever ZIP code or area code they choose. When users pick a station to play, UBERSTATIONS suggests other stations playing similar streams."

The site describes its service as "a new way to discover and listen to online radio stations. This unique cloud guide not only lists stations but also displays currently playing song titles and shows for thousands of stations making it easier than ever to find something great on radio to listen to. Clicking on a station plays that station in the web browser. After selecting a song or show a recommendation engine will locate up to 20 other stations with programming that may also be of interest in the 'More Choices' section in the upper right."

"We think this is a real advance in online radio experience," ROBERTSON said in an interview with THE TIMES. "We play all the stations in one beautiful Web experience, and we’re tracking real-time what’s playing on thousands of stations."
