Longtime BOSTON host JIMMY MYERS has joined an unlicensed FM station, TOUCH 106.1/BOSTON, to host mornings, reports the BOSTON HERALD's JOE FITZGERALD. MYERS most recently hosted a weekend show at GREATER MEDIA's former Talk WTKK, and has hosted at WEEI-A, WBZ-A, WILD-A, ESPN, WWOR-TV/NEW YORK, and elsewhere.
“It feels like I’m beginning all over again,” MYERS told FITZGERALD. “But what am I going to do? It’s the only outlet I’ve got right now. I thought about it for days, not sure if I should do it, then realized I still have the energy and the passion. I don’t care if it’s a 10-watt station; I’ll give it what I would have given a 50,000-watt station.”
Operator CHARLES CLEMONS was fined $17,000 by the FCC for running TOUCH 106.1 without authorization but continues to operate the station.
