Condolences to the family and friends of JJ CALE, a musician and songwriter who influenced artists such as ERIC CLAPTON and JOHNNY CASH. He died on FRIDAY, JULY 26th in LA JOLLA, CA. CALE was 74.

CALE was perhaps best known for writing "Cocaine" and "After MIDNIGHT," made famous by ERIC CLAPTON.

On CALE's FACEBOOK page, the family posted, "We've lost a great artist and a great person tonight. JJ CALE passed away at 8p on FRIDAY JULY 26 at SCRIPPS HOSPITAL in LA JOLLA, CA. He had suffered a heart attack. There are no immediate plans for services," and added "JJ CALE’s family is very grateful and deeply touched by your sharing of what his music meant to each of you. It helps carry us through this very difficult time to hear from you. Thank you so much."
