CUMULUS MEDIA will take over management -- but not ownership -- of ESPN Sports KESN (ESPN DALLAS 103.3 FM)/DALLAS under an LMA that will take effect when the spinoff of CUMULUS' KTDK-F to WHITLEY MEDIA for resale closes. At the same time, ESPN Spanish Sports KZMP-A (ESPN DEPORTES RADIO DALLAS 1540 AM)/DALLAS, owned by LIBERMAN and programmed by ESPN under an LMA, will now be programmed by DEPORTES MEDIA as of SEPTEMBER 1st and will retain the ESPN DEPORTES RADIO affiliation and name.
"ESPN AUDIO is always evaluating business options and opportunities, while continuing to serve sports fans,” said TRAUG KELLER, ESPN SVP/Production Business Divisions. “These two moves are smart for us in the DALLAS market as we grow the audio business and draw on the strengths of CUMULUS. Sports fans will continue to have access to the best national and local programming that ESPN RADIO DALLAS and ESPN DEPORTES RADIO DALLAS have to offer.”
KESN, flagship for TEXAS RANGERS baseball, has been locked in a three-way Sports battle with CUMULUS Sports KTCK-A (THE TICKET) and CBS RADIO Sports KRLD-F (105.3 THE FAN); the move brings KESN under the same management as THE TICKET.
