USA TODAY has a profile of CLEAR CHANNEL RADIO CEO JOHN HOGAN, and in it HOGAN discusses topics like the genesis of "Less Is More" ("I distinctly remember driving to work in SAN ANTONIO and listening (to the radio) and thinking, 'There's no way that people are going to listen to this.' We had absolutely saturated the experience with commercials and promotions. We had to do something different") and firing BUBBA THE LOVE SPONGE and dropping HOWARD STERN ("We took a stand. We said that we're going to be responsible broadcasters").
HOGAN also discusses mending fences in the industry after taking over, describing "a real sense of parochialism, and turf, and misunderstanding about expectations" at the company under predecessor RANDY MICHAELS ("Prior leadership had not really done much to generate (external) relationships. They were of the attitude that what's good for us is good for us -- and let everybody fend for themselves").
