As expected, Senate Commerce Committee JAY ROCKEFELLER (D-WV) is not enthusiastic about supporting a Senate version of the FCC reform bill consolidating reporting requirements for broadcasters. The bill would streamline reporting of FCC action to Congress, combining what are now eight separate reports into a single biennial Communications Marketplace Report.
ROCKEFELLER told POLITICO that the bill is not a priority, adding that he thinks the issue is FCC understaffing.
“The FCC is slow, but they’re also understaffed,” ROCKEFELLER said. “So the question is were they slow before they were understaffed... My heart is not warm, but I’m going to look at it."
