Former major league slugger JACK CLARK and his 3-6p (CT) on-air co-host KEVIN SLATEN have been fired by INSIDESTL.COM, programmer of Sports WGNU-A (CBS SPORTS RADIO 920)/ST. LOUIS, in the wake of CLARK's accusations on the show FRIDAY (8/9) that ALBERT PUJOLS used performance enhancing drugs while playing for the ST. LOUIS CARDINALS.
PUJOLS, now with the LOS ANGELES ANGELS, denied the allegations and threatened to sue CLARK and his employer, and CLARK's alleged source, PUJOLS' personal trainer CHRIS MIHLFELD, also denied telling CLARK that PUJOLS used PEDs.
INSIDESTL.COM principal and 7-10a "THE MORNING AFTER" host TIM MCKERNAN issued a statement on SATURDAY saying, "INSIDESTL ENTERPRISES, LLC and all related companies would like to make clear that JACK CLARK is no longer associated with the company. Mr. CLARK was never employed by INSIDESTL but rather was an independent contractor. Any opinions, views or statements made by him strictly reflect his own personal views and do not reflect the views of INSIDESTL. INSIDESTL, LLC and any related companies have never asserted and do not assert that ALBERT PUJOLS has ever used steroids or any other type of performing enhancing drug."
SLATEN told the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH's DAN CAESAR that he will sue INSIDEST.COM for his dismissal, calling MCKERNAN "as cowardly and slimy as the rest of them" and complaining that he was induced to leave crosstown ENTERTAINMENT MEDIA TRUST/INSANE BROADCASTING CO. Country-Talk KQQZ-A but was fired for what CLARK said and not anything he did.
