Former SPANISH BROADCASTING SYSTEM Regional Mexican WLEY (LA LEY 107.9)/CHICAGO Account Executive DANIEL S. TURPIN has filed a notice of voluntary dismissal of his age discrimination suit against the company.
The notice, filed in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of ILLINOIS, does not indicate a reason for dismissing the case with prejudice, although it notes that SBS "has not answered TURPIN's Complaint or filed a motion for dismissal or for summary judgment."
The complaint, filed in MAY, alleged that the 53-year-old TURPIN worked for SBS from 2001 "until his abrupt firing on JUNE 21, 2012" despite meeting or exceeding sales goals.
The complaint alleged that a new, younger sales manager, JEFF DELGADO, "began to make improper, demeaning, and discriminatory age-related comments to and about" TURPIN, and that DELGADO began to demand inclusion in meetings with TURPIN's clients and excluded the salesman from meetings and business functions.
