The war of words between the forces of MANCOW and EMMIS Alternative WKQX (Q101)/CHICAGO has only escalated with the release WEDNESDAY of ARBITRON numbers that showed the morning man pulling in big ratings in male demos, topping the market among English-language morning shows for men 18-34, 18-49, and 25-54.
MANCOW's syndicator TRN-FM CEO MARK MASTERS issued a statement that called the SPRING book "the gold standard of empirical evidence which proves that despite the posturing of Q101's management, MANCOW is the most popular radio personality in CHICAGO. Isn't it ironic that the week after MANCOW parts ways with Q101... he produces the highest numbers of his career? Whichever CHICAGO station MANCOW lands at will be extremely fortunate to have him. Let the ratings speak for themselves." MANCOW added that "Q101's spin machine has been in overdrive trying to rationalize management's irrational decision to take our show off the air. They can say what they want, but Chicagoans are embracing our positive message."
MANCOW, pulled from the local air by Q101 last week after contract negotiations ended without a deal, is doing his show from a studio at ABC's CHICAGO studios for his syndication audience and will be free to join another flagship in CHICAGO on AUGUST 26.
