KFXJ's Jan & Phil Lobby For 'Ike Airport'

JOURNAL BROADCAST GROUP Classic Rock KFXJ (THE FOX)/WICHITA, KS morning duo JAN and PHIL are leading a drive via online petition to change the name of WICHITA’s airport to "WICHITA DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT." So far they have collected more than 650 signatures as well as the endorsement of Senator BOB DOLE.

In an AUG. 19th letter, DOLE endorsed the morning show’s efforts to rename the airport for PRESIDENT EISENHOWER. "I think it is a great idea. I have never believed that PRESIDENT EISENHOWER received all the honors he deserved, so this would be a fitting tribute to a great American and fellow KANSAN," DOLE wrote. "Keep up the good work and best wishes."

"We are thrilled to have this endorsement from a senator held in such high esteem throughout the country," HARRISON said of DOLE, who introduced a measure in the U.S. Senate in 1990 to have the DULLES airport renamed for PRESIDENT EISENHOWER, the measure did not pass.

HARRISON and THOMPSON’s online petition is to be delivered to the WICHITA CITY COUNCIL no later than OCTOBER 15th. The petition can be found at the 104.5 The Fox website, www.1045thefox.com, or at petitions/petition/ilikeike.
