MLB ADVANCED MEDIA has acquired worldwide distribution rights to the upcoming Global Citizen Festival concert in CENTRAL PARK. THE NEW YORK TIMES reports that the digital arm of MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL has "purchased worldwide rights for TV, radio -- well, what we used to call TV, what we used to call radio -- and digital" for a live event for the first time, according to MLBAM CEO BOB BOWMAN.
The concert will be live streamed and MLBAM intends to repackage the show into a two-hour special for broadcast television.
The concert will be headlined by STEVIE WONDER, ALICIA KEYS, JOHN MAYER, and KINGS OF LEON and will raise funds for the GLOBAL POVERTY PROJECT. MLBAM, besides baseball's own digital efforts, provides the backend infrastructure for GLENN BECK's THEBLAZE.TV, ESPN's WATCHESPN, and CBS' MARCH Madness online package.
