After almost 50-years as a Country station, WFMX/CLEMONS, NC, a station that has served the GREENSBORO-WINSTON SALEM-HIGH POINT area, signed off at Midnight last night (7/19) and will be flipping formats.
ALL ACCESS is hearing that CLEAR CHANNEL will be assuming control of the station, which is on the 105.7 frequency, and is moving it to GREENSBORO. The station was being operated by MERCURY BROADCASTING previously. The word is that they will be flipping to Top 40/Rhythmic, under the moniker KISS 105.7. They are already stunting with KISS-flavored music.
We've also confirmed that WFMX GM GREG RYAN, PD DAVE MICHAELS, as well as the entire sales and programming teams have exited. Check out the goodbye message at www.wfmx.com. CLEAR CHANNEL Country WTQR/GREENSBORO-WINSTON SALEM is welcoming all former WFMX listeners at www.wtqr.com.
