Digital distributor ONErpm is now offering independent artists a premium share of the advertising profits for use of their music on YOUTUBE. An alternative to YOUTUBE's Standard Partner Program, ONErpm's Premium Partnership offers several key advantages, such as the ability to identify unauthorized use of their work on videos throughout the site.
Utilizing YOUTUBE's Content ID system or audio fingerprinting technology, ONErpm is able to claim the advertising revenues on behalf of the rightful content owner, providing artists with an additional stream of income.
To participate, artists simply upload their music at no cost to ONErpm's website. ONErpm delivers the audio files to YOUTUBE with the correct copyright information. YOUTUBE then scans its site for any videos using that work and then generates a claim for each video so artists can start earning advertising revenue. On average, the company has been able to more than double the revenue the artist earned as a Standard YOUTUBE Partner.
"YOUTUBE is by far the biggest and most popular destination for music on the web," ONErpm CEO EMMANUEL ZUNZ said. "Through Content ID, YOUTUBE has given control back to the rightful content owners enabling them to earn significant income. ONErpm's goal is to help them maximize that potential."
