LINCOLN FINANCIAL MEDIA WQXI-A (790 THE ZONE)/ATLANTA has decided on a replacement for the departed MAYHEM IN THE A.M., launching THE LOCKER ROOM WITH ALGE CRUMPLER AND JP PETERSON on THURSDAY (9/5) for the 6-10a slot.
CRUMPLER, the former FALCONS tight end, has been serving as an analyst for the station and has hosted FALCONS game-day shows on CBS affiliate WGCL-TV (CBS ATLANTA) and FOX O&O WAGA-TV (FOX 5). PETERSON is a veteran of the TAMPA market, including hosting at GENESIS Sports WHBO-A/TAMPA and CBS RADIO Sports WQYK-A (1010 SPORTS)/TAMPA and anchoring at NBC affiliate WFLA-TV and UPN and CW affiliate WTOG-TV.
"We are excited to launch LOCKER ROOM," said PD BOB RICHARDS. "The years of insight and experience ALGE and JP bring to the table, coupled with a revamped program format, will help set the tone each morning for how listeners digest the world of sports and set the pace for how topics resonate throughout the day."
The new show fills the gap left by the firing of STEAK SHAPIRO, NICK CELLINI and CHRIS DIMINO after the show aired a bit making fun of STEVE GLEASON, the former NEW ORLEANS SAINTS player stricken with LOU GEHRIG's Disease, earlier this year.
