UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP (UMG) has promoted MICHAEL ALEXANDER to SVP/International, ISLAND DEF JAM, MOTOWN and REPUBLIC RECORDS. Previously, he was VP/International for ISLAND DEF JAM.
In this expanded role, ALEXANDER will oversee artist campaigns under the East Coast Labels umbrella, including the marketing, publicity and promotion functions outside of the US. He has worked closely on global efforts for RIHANNA, JUSTIN BIEBER, BON JOVI, KANYE WEST, JAY Z, MARIAH CAREY, THE KILLERS and Fall Out Boy, among many others.
"With MIKE, you have a true creative executive who thinks globally," UMG/EAST COAST LABELS Chairman/CEO BARRY WEISS said. "His ability to craft intelligent international campaigns for our artists has proven to be an invaluable resource when it comes to the artist's success around the world."
"I'm thrilled for this incredible opportunity," ALEXANDER said, "and I'm excited and inspired to continue working with the most talented artists and executives in the industry. I especially want to thank BARRY WEISS, IVAN GAVIN, STEVE BARTELS, MONTE LIPMAN, AVERY LIPMAN and DAVID MASSEY and I look forward to even greater success in the years to come."
