For anyone doubting the effectiveness of a well-executed radio stunt, pay attention to what happened last WEEK when L&L BROADCASTING was flipping Classic Hits WGCO/SAVANNAH, GA to Country, as 98.3 HANK FM (NET NEWS 8/30).

The station ramped up to the format switch with non-stop HANK WILLIAMS JR. music, prompting 100 calls to local police from concerned citizens, some who feared a hostage situation at the studios.

As a company press release further explains, “Police surrounded the building; after entering , the chief engineer was handcuffed and detained until proof of his identity was made available. The police finally understood what had taken place and congratulated us on ‘HANK.' Again, Thanks for a job well done.”
