APPLE's confirmation of iTUNES RADIO at TODAY's product showcase elicited rather tart reactions from SPOTIFY and NOKIA MUSIC.
"The digital music market has shifted dramatically since the days of simply putting 1,000 songs in your pocket," SLACKER CEO JIM CADY stated. " We think APPLE finally jumping into streaming with iRADIO will help expose millions of new consumers to streaming music, which is great for everyone in the space. However, access to music is just the beginning, listeners need tools to navigate this massive sea of content, which is where SLACKER leads the with the best human-curated stations, playlists and recommendations."
"It’s good to see the launch of APPLE’s radio service, NOIKIE ENTERTAINMENT VP JYRKI ROSENBERG said. "We firmly believe that personalized streaming services, such as our own NOKIA MIX RADIO, are the future of music discovery. NOKIA MIX RADIO has been offering an ad-free, offline enabled, global music streaming service on NOKIA Lumia devices for a couple of years now. We have launched in 28 countries as diverse as CHINA, INDIA and the U.S., and consumer reaction has been very positive, especially regarding the quality and simplicity of the service we offer.
"Millions of listeners around the world are responding really well to the breadth and depth of our catalogue of global and local music," he continued. "They appreciate the quality of the thousands of curated mixes and key features such as offline playback, which means they can enjoy uninterrupted music when not connected to their network. iTUNES RADIO joining the space can only help drive awareness and uptake of music streaming. The momentum in the market is really building."
