EDISON RESEARCH has released more of the data from "What’s Working At Work?" (NET NEWS 9/3) that will be presented as part of the NAB/RAB RADIO SHOW in ORLANDO, FL on SEPT. 20th at 10:50a. The study is the result of a national survey of 1,043 Adults age 18 and over who work full or part-time.
EDISON finds that new formats have taken over at work. Soft AC stations have given way to Classic Rock, Top 40 and Rock in the workplace. The survey shows Top 40 as the favorite of 14% of the respondents, followed by Classic Rock (13%) and Rock (12%).
Other formats have also moved ahead of background music, with Country and Classical at 10%. AC is now just 9% of the at-work listenership said EDISON. Urban, Oldies and Christian follow at 7%. 8% of the respondents don’t listen to any music while on the job.
A quarter of the respondents told EDISON that they listen to just one station. 31% say two and 20% say they switch between three favorites.
EDISON also confirmed the move to web listening, with the average worker listening to three different internet-only radio stations while working. 70% of the respondents said they like creating their own station.
