Country icon DOLLY PARTON was recently filming her new LIFETIME-TV CHRISTMAS movie, when MICHAEL COOPER, CEO/President of GLOBALDOC, INC., visited the set to surprise her with a $50,000 check for "THE DOCTOR ROBERT F. THOMAS FOUNDATION."
THE DOCTOR ROBERT F. THOMAS FOUNDATION is named after the doctor who delivered DOLLY, and supports the medical needs of SEVIER COUNTY, TN residents. A portion of the $50,000 donation has been earmarked for the SEVIER COUNTY BOYS & GIRLS CLUB to aid anti-bullying awareness efforts.
"The director was yellin’ ‘action’ all day but turns out the real action was created by our good friend Mike Cooper who came bearing the gift of $50,000 to support the good work of the Dr. Robert F. Thomas Foundation, a cause that’s truly near and dear to my heart," said DOLLY. "I had no idea Mike was coming but I told him he could surprise me like that anytime!"
PARTON is a spokesperson for GLOBALDOC INC.
DOLLY’s past efforts to raise money for THE DOCTOR ROBERT F. THOMAS FOUNDATION have included auctioning off a date with herself (NET NEWS 8/16/12) that went for $138,000 and a private "Barbie-Q" at her home that went for $75,000 (NET NEWS 6/21/10). She recently announced plans to perform a concert in the SEVIERVILLE area next SPRING, in which proceeds will be split between this foundation and her IMAGINATION LIBRARY LITERACY program.
