CKUA RADIO FOUNDATION has received CRTC permission to shut down its Variety CKUA-A/EDMONTON. The AM transmitter is a simulcast of CKUA-F/EDMONTON and a network of 14 transmitters throughout ALBERTA (including CALGARY); CKUA had announced its intention to shut down the AM in the SPRING and will now have three months to do so.
The CRTC also approved a move of the transmitter for new JIM PATTISON BROADCAST GROUP Triple A CHPK (95.3 THE PEAK)/CALGARY, remaining at 100,000 watts ERP, moving from a BELL MEDIA tower to a HARVARD BROADCASTING tower to reduce multipath.
