CITY OF DALLAS Classical WRR/DALLAS GM SARAH COLMARK has submitted her resignation, effective OCTOBER 1st, reports DALLAS NEWS. COLMARK, a classically trained pianist, came to DALLAS in JANUARY 2012 on an incentive-laden contract tied to "specific benchmarks of operating revenue." However, the city-owned radio station’s expected revenue is down $611,000 due to lack of ad sales.
When it became clear there would be a $600,000-plus budget shortfall, station management and OCA officials began looking for ways to gut expenses. Among them: not filling open positions, putting off equipment upgrades, canceling print jobs and so on. The staff cuts saved $300,000 alone.
DAVID FISHER, the OCA’s assistant director, will serve as interim GM until a replacement is found. A new GM is expected to be in place by MARCH 2014.
