All seats were sold out at LOCAL MEDIA SAN DIEGO Alternative XTRA-F (91X)/SAN DIEGO's "X-FEST" concert on FRIDAY (9/20) night at SLEEP TRAIN AMPHITHEATER, with headliners BLINK-182, THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS, and THE OFFSPRING performing to over 19,000 fans.
91X, celebrating its 30th Anniversary of broadcasting this year, packed the X-FEST lineup with a total of 11 bands, also including JIMMY EAT WORLD, SILVERSUN PICKUPS, THE DIRTY HEADS, WAVVES, ATLAS GENIUS, NEW POLITICS, and IAMDYNAMITE.
Also scheduled to appear, FITZ AND THE TANTRUMS needed to cancel at the last minute due to the birth of a son to lead singer MICHAEL FITZPATRICK.
Almost all bands came out in front of fans to interview live on 91X and sign autographs. Listeners also collected an estimated 500 pounds of clothing for FATHER JOE'S VILLAGEs. Anyone who made a donation received a free 18" x 24" X-FEST 2013 poster from 91X.
“It’s been an exciting year celebrating the 30th anniversary of 91X, and we thank all the 91X listeners who came to make this X-FEST one of the biggest ever,” said 91X PD CHRISTY TAYLOR. “What a day!”
