Condolences to former WXKS (KISS 108), WZOU, WEEI (STAR 937), WODS and current WBMX (MIX 104.1) parttimer KAREN BLAKE on the loss of her husband, veteran radio personality and voice over artist ERIC CHANEY, who passed away suddenly SEPTEMBER 16th.
CHANEY began his lengthy career in BOSTON, where he was raised. He was so proud and honored to be one of the youngest personalities on the legendary 68/WRKO radio. He joined WHTT in the early 80s and WVBF in the mid-80s, where he was #1 at night. In the late eighties CHANEY could be heard on Classic Rock WZLX, where he was #1 in afternoon drive. In the 90s, CHANEY joined GREATER MEDIA WBCS and MAGIC 106.7’s on-air staff and production team.
CHANEY met his wife -- BOSTON radio personality KAREN BLAKE when they worked together at WKLB. They have been together for nearly 2 decades.
"I am devasted that my husband has passed. He was my best friend and my confidant. Being in the same business, ERIC always gave me great advice. He loved his family and friends unconditionally. I will miss him every second of every day. We had great love and respect for one another."
CHANEY programmed several radio stations, including WXFG/WEST PALM BEACH, and had a successful production company doing voice-overs for several radio stations across the country. He could be heard on movie trailers and national radio and tv commericals including SONY.
He leaves behind his loving wife KAREN; his dear children STEPHEN JR., and JENNIFER CHANEY; his devoted sister HOLLY CHANEY and nephew JOHN CHANEY and his son HUNTER.
A private service was held for immediate family. A memorial and celebration of ERIC’s life to follow.
