New Urban AC Station Slated To Start in Gainsville

URBAN ONE BROADCASTING plans to launch an Urban Adult-formatted station to serve the GAINESVILLE/OCALA, FL market. WURB (97.7) is scheduled to be on the air by DECEMBER 1st.

Owner WILLIAM JOHNSON has already committed to air the syndicated STEVE HARVEY Morning Show. The strategy is to slide some older listeners away from MARC RADIO Urban WTMG (MAGIC 101.3) as well as some from JVC MEDIA’s WXJZ (100.9/SMOOTH FM). The new Urban AC will operate on an improved Class C signal.
