TIDE COMMUNITY RADIO AC KTDE (THE TIDE)/GUALALA, CA has dropped its satellite-delivered AC network programming from CUMULUS MEDIA to launch local programming in the Classic Rock format. Along with the format change, KTDE is currently working on technical upgrades that will ensure the long-term viability of the independent radio station.
"We had to keep the network programming on the air for another two years, or control the music programming ourselves," OM ANDREW DUHL said. "A recent audience survey indicated that a Classic Rock format was what the MENDOCINO and SONOMA coastline audience desired the most. From that data, KTDE VP JOHN POWER and GM JOEL CROCKETT decided to pull the plug on the network programming, and gave me the job of developing a Classic Pock format for the times when we don’t have a live host. All of our live programs will keep their current time slots and formats.”
"Aside from the music change, listeners will also notice we are airing fewer commercials," he continued. "We don’t have barter spots and mandatory network breaks to deal with anymore. The reduced on-air clutter allows us to play more music for our listeners, and gives more value to our advertisers."
