WREW Rebrands As 'The New 94.9'

HUBBARD BROADCASTING Variety AC WREW (REWIND 94.9)/CINCINNATI has dropped the "REWIND" moniker, and rebranded as "THE NEW 94.9, CINCINNATI'S BEST MIX."

THE CINCINNATI INQUIRER's JOHN KIESEWETTER reports, "switching to MIX from REWIND was mostly a branding change to reflect a music evolution over the past year," and was told by Market Mgr. JIM BRYANT that "all personalities remain on the station."

"THE NEW 94.9 still plays the same music recipe of 70s and 80s music, but I’m sure you’ve noticed over the last 12 months we’ve contemporized and expanded our music product playing a much wider era range of music. After extensive local research, we found our listeners love the 70’s and 80’s, but also want to hear the best of today’s sound as well," BRYANT told KIESEWETTER. "We’re still targeted to Women 35-54, and we’re still WREW, but REWIND -- although a perfect name 4-½ years ago -- really doesn’t reflect the great sound we’ve grown into. By adjusting our name to 'THE NEW 94.9, CINCINNATI’S BEST MIX,' we now better reflect the station today'."
