Another proposed OMAHA rimshot on 107.7 FM is running into trouble related to interference to OFFUT AIR FORCE BASE's navigation systems. NORTHPINE.COM is reporting that VIC MICHAEL's KONA COAST RADIO has been working with the FAA to resolve interference issues arising from the construction of new KIMI/SIDNEY, IA, which would operate with 50,000 watts.
The station was contacted by the FAA after construction was completed; it has applied for an STA to operate at 500 watts but must return to the air by TODAY (10/3) to retain its license, a problem complicated by the government shutdown.
A previous attempt at launching a station on that frequency by CONNOISSEUR MEDIA was halted over similar concerns, prompting the FCC to refund CONNOISSEUR's auction bid (NET NEWS 12/24/10). KIMI is a move-in from HUMBOLDT, NE, where it operated temporarily to establish its license before the move to SIDNEY.
