How many times have you been stuck in traffic only to hear several minutes of commercials on the radio? However, Media Strategist MARK RAMSEY doesn't think there's an overabundance of ads.
In his latest MARK RAMSEY MEDIA blog, he cites three reasons why the spot load doesn't need to be reduced. RAMSEY says on a practical basis radio stations aren't going to start dramatically cutting their commercials. He also refers to advertising inertia, assuming that hearing "fewer spots is the new normal."
In the end, as always, it comes down to the almighty dollar, says RAMSEY. "Advertising is the price consumers pay for radio," RAMSEY writes. "If the price is too high, perhaps that says more about the content than the ads."
