Cal Smith Dead At 81

ALL ACCESS extends sympathies to family and friends of Country singer CAL SMITH, who died YESTERDAY (10/10) in BRANSON, MO. He was 81.

SMITH is perhaps best known for singing “Country Bumpkin,” but he earned CMA Single Of The Year honors in 1974 for “It’s Time To Pay The Fiddler.”

He was a member of ERNEST TUBB’s TEXAS TROUBADOURS before starting a  solo career. Prior to joining TUBB, SMITH was an air-personality for KEEN/SAN JOSE.
