The next step to pull PACIFICA noncommercial variety WBAI/NEW YORK out of financial turmoil apparently involves a lease deal. The NEW YORK DAILY NEWS reports the WBAI local board told the PACIFICA NATIONAL BOARD, the group that oversees WBAI and four other stations, that the process of seeking LMA bidders has started.
There is a NOVEMBER 6th deadline for replies.
In AUGUST (NET NEWS 8/9), WBAI laid off much of its on-air staff and all of the news department. Despite having a 50,000iwatt signal, WBAI has been in a constant struggle for ratings.
