Longtime CBS RADIO News WINS-A/NEW YORK anchor MARK HILAN is about to shut the mic for good. He told his FACEBOOK friends recently that he'll leave for start a career in the food business.
HILAN wrote, "Dear family, friends and colleagues. At the end of this month, 36 years after collecting my first paycheck as a working radio professional, I will collect my final one. Time to go...after 18 more shifts at 1010 WINS. My choice, my decision...and incredibly grateful for that. Next up? What I hope and pray will be a successful career as a partner in a restaurant venture in BROOKLYN. More on that later. For now? Thanks for listening..."
This is HILAN's second stint at the All-News station, returning in 2002 following a tenture as weekend anchor from 1994 to 1999. HILAN also spent 10 years as morning anchor at NEW YORK PUBLIC RADIO noncommercial News-Talk WNYC/NEW YORK. According to his WINS bio, HILAN got his newsradio start at CBS RADIO WBBM-A/CHICAGO in 1978.
