NEWSDAY is reporting that the NEW YORK METS are close to signing a deal to move to CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WOR-A/NEW YORK for the new season. The METS were displaced from their longtime radio home at crosstown CBS RADIO Sports WFAN-A&F when the NEW YORK YANKEES announced their move to WFAN from sister News WCBS-A.
It has been widely assumed that ESPN RADIO Sports WEPN-F (ESPN NEW YORK 98.7FM) was involved in the bidding for the METS contract. Veteran METS broadcaster HOWIE ROSE is expected to remain with the team, while the status of partner JOSH LEWIN is unclear.
