CBS RADIO/BALTIMORE will launch a new Country station TOMORROW (10/25), signing on “NEW COUNTRY 106.1” at 12n (ET). The frequency is currently airing Christian programming as a translator to WLIF-HD2, owned by HOPE CHRISTIAN. No word yet on what if any call sign changes will take place.
“We’re excited to help put ‘NEW COUNTRY 106.’1 on the air and round out our diverse range of programming in CHARM CITY,” said CBS RADIO/BALTIMORE SVP/Market Manager ROBERT PHILLIPS. “Country radio today has a broad-based audience, including more listeners and younger listeners than ever before. Its crossover popularity is at an all-time high, and Country fans here in BALTIMORE are extremely passionate.”
The station release says “NEW COUNTRY 106.1” will feature the format’s biggest stars, including JASON ALDEAN, FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE, JASON ALDEAN, KEITH URBAN, BLAKE SHELTON, MIRANDLA LAMBERT and other current artists, “new and established."
“NEW COUNTRY 106.1” debuts as the result of an agreement between CBS RADIO/BALTIMORE and HOPE CHRISTIAN.
The newly launched station will also stream, at newcountry1061.com. In addition to its presence at 106.1 FM, “NEW COUNTRY 106.1” will be available on HD Radio devices at 101.9 HD2.
The new station hopes to challenge CLEAR CHANNEL's market-leading Country WPOC.
