STECKLINE COMMUNICATIONS has been hit with two big proposed FCC fines of $21,000 for each station for antenna pattern, power limit, and public file violations at Talk KQAM-A and Sports KGSO-A/WICHITA.
An anonymous complaint led to an OCTOBER 21st-22nd, 2012 inspection of the station by an agent from the FCC's KANSAS CITY office, who observed the stations running over their prescribed power and noted that the transmission equipment for KQAM could not be brought into compliance. Issues/programs lists were also missing from the public files.
The station did not deny the violations, but did say that KGSO's operation at higher-than-permitted powers were the result of confusion on the engineer's part because KGSO was formerly assigned the call letters KQAM and the transmitter was programmed with the wrong station's parameters.
