SERVICE BROADCASTING Urban KKDA (K-104)/DALLAS made it a great day for one local high school student from nearby KELLER. First, he got to be part of the K-104 morning show. Then, he got a chance to dance in the studio with his dream date and morning show co-hostess LADY JADE. And finally, K-104 gave him tickets to see DRAKE in concert, passes to SIX FLAGS and a WAL-MART gift certificate.
The student, KAREEM GIBBS, charmed host DEDE McGUIRE, the K-104 morning crew and their morning listeners. “I try to stay as positive as I possibly can and try not to think of it too much and that’s really what gets me through the day,” said GIBBS, who has a rare form of cancer. Doctors say he has just months to live.
Six years ago, just before his 12th birthday, KAREEM was diagnosed with undifferentiated sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. Doctors found a tumor the size of a football in his hip. It then spread to his lungs now it’s in his heart.
KELLER-CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL’s homecoming is tonight and KAREEM has been nominated for homecoming king.
