CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WWNC-A/ASHEVILLE's PETE KALINER show was the focus of national news THURSDAY when embatted local Republican Party Precinct Chairman DON YELTON, who made racist comments in an interview that aired on COMEDY CENTRAL's "THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART," resigned on the air and spent the entire three hours of KALINER's show in studio.
YELTON, interviewed by AASIF MANDVI about NORTH CAROLINA's new voter ID law, said that "lazy black people" want the government to "give them everything." He also discussed how African-Americans use the N-word and claimed not to be racist. The BUNCOMBE COUNTY G.O.P. denounced YELTON's comments and the state party demanded YELTON's resignation, which he announced on KALINER's show.
The radio show was covered by CNN, THE NEW YORKER, and several other national media outlets. Hear it by clicking here.
