MIDWEST COMMUNICATONS Talk WSAU-A-F/WAUSAU, WI is dealing with a situation in which a man claiming to be selling advertising for the station is allegedly attempting to scam WISCONSIN RAPIDS clients.
The station reports that a man has been approaching clients offering an ad package at a particular price in exchange for signing up as a TOYS FOR TOTS drop-off location.
GM BRETT LUCHT said, “We got a call from the manager at WALMART in WISCONSIN RAPIDS, LIZ BROCK, saying that there is a person claiming to be RON and his manager GREG selling packages and claiming to be from 99.9 WSAU where WISCONSIN RAPIDS businesses could be TOYS FOR TOTS drop off points, and get 29 ads on the station for a price of $2,100 dollars. Of course, we have nothing like that going on at this point, so this is an obvious scam.... I’ve contacted the WISCONSIN RAPIDS HEART OF WISCONSIN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE already to let them know, and please let us know if anyone else out there is getting calls from these people.”
