ALPHA BROADCASTING News-Talk KXL/PORTLAND has apologized for, and replaced, a billboard in PORTLAND's Chinatown neighborhood that read, "We Love You Long Time."
The slogan comes from the film "Full Metal Jacket" and is uttered in the film (as "Me so horny, me love you long time") by a Vietnamese prostitute to an American soldier; it was also sampled by 2 LIVE CREW for the 1989 hit "Me So Horny."
CBS affiliate KOIN-TV reports that KXL will remove the board and replace it with one reading "Stay connected, my friends," a play on DOS EQUIS' "The Most Interesting Man in the World" ad campaign. "It's a famous quote from an old rap song; we thought it would get attention but in no way meant disrespect to anyone," ALPHA Dir./Marketing RANDI P'POOL told KOIN.
