MYRON KUNIN, founder of the REGIS hair salon chain and radio and TV station owner, died WEDNESDAY (10/30) of pneumonia after a battle with leukemia at 85.
The MINNEAPOLIS-based philanthropist and prominent art collector took over his family's department store hair salon business and turned it into the nationwide 13,500 location REGIS chain, retiring from the company's board in 2008. At his death, he owned RED RIVER BROADCASTING, owner of FOX affiliates in FARGO and DULUTH and the NBC affiliate in SIOUX FALLS-MITCHELL, and RED ROCK RADIO, owner of 25 radio stations across MINNESOTA and WISCONSIN.
